Patch Alpha 0.2 Preview & Update Info - Coconut Falls!


Hello there loyal Thicc Apple farmers! This devlog details where I've been, same general thought about the project, a preview for the next incredible Alpha 0.2 update, and roadmap for the future!

Hey all. I first posted this project as a work of passion back in October (of 2022). Back then, I made a few patches to the original game, and pretty much disappeared after the Halloween season. I pretty much gave myself a huge pat on the back for bring this concept to life as a real game project all for fun, and with that I took a hiatus after the immediate traction from close people slowed down. I wanted to keep working on the project for fun, as that's just what the project is, but take in and appreciate whatever traction I get. So I wanted to make a post once I was ready to introduce the next update and where I can see this project going.

PATCH ALPHA 0.2 PREVIEW:

A new frontier has been discovered - Coconut Falls! Advance your farms into the great jungle filled with rocks, trees, and waterfalls! Discover three new types of Coconuts as you jump into growing more THICC fruits! Along with this, some systems within the game have been reworked. All apple upgrades have now been cleaned up into individual shops for each dropper type and area, rather than being a collage of buttons. This will now allow you to read short, sweet, and coolio descriptions of each and now see the individual buffs of upgrades, if applicable. You will now view dropper statistics within these shops as well. Obtaining items has been reworked as well; instead of dropping in crates from the sky at certain progression thresholds, providers for crates are now purchasable instead in area shops. As such, you will now be able to roll for items particularly either in the lower tier dropper or the higher tier dropper of that area. These still retain the cooldown as before, and also still give a notification. And - check it out - cool new logo!

REST OF ALPHA 0.2.x & FUTURE ROADMAP:

A lot of what I'm about to mention is just ideas without planning, but generally I see myself expanding on the core gameplay of the game and some improvements in the following development cycles. This is what I see currently

- Alpha 0.2.1 will focus on more item tweeks/additions and overhaul of the Rethiccen system. More on how that will transfer over when i do so soon(tm)

- Alpha 0.2.2 would see more decorations and visual updates to some of the textures. Balancing as needed and recorded. Bugs smashed as needed

- Alpha +0.3 will see the light of advanced tier droppers in areas and hopefully a promotion system as older droppers don't become obsolete like they do currently. I'll also like to add a new buff system with some kind of consumables, likewise the current item system but stronger for certain periods of time. That might take a bit of time to plan out fully.

- Beyond, more quality of life stuff. Achievements, more to the level system, decoration changes, new gameplay to reduce any staleness, you name it.


That's about all I have currently for this DevLog & Update on the project. Alpha 0.2 is not ready as of posting this, so it might take another week before its proper deployment to the public.
